My parents won't let me get a FAKE cartilage ring?

I knew that my parents wouldn't let me get my cartilage pierced, so i started looking around for some fake cartilage rings. They think im going to turn into some freak i guess. i mean i have straight A's, i'm on the school cheerleading team, and i played volleyball (season ended). a fake ring is not going to change me! i don't understand it. at least i think thats why, they wont tell me any other reason. any ideas on how to convince them? thanks =)
