Should i get another kitten for the one i have?

We had 2 cats and it was a big mistake. They stayed too cat like, never wanted to be around people and marked each other's territory on my upgraded pink wall to wall carpet. The smell didn't go away until we tore up the rug and sealed the floor. Think twice before getting another one.
