Malcolm in the Middle?

I have seen most of the episodes of Malcolm in the Middle but have a question that bothered me. After Francis was fired from the dude ranch he regressed and was out of work. At this time (and until the end of the show), was he still married to Piama or were they separated? They don't show her after that so I'm confused as to what happened to her character. Any help?
