I believe energy in the biofuel is less than the sum of the energy spent in making it. Is it worth it?

I can't really add much to your question, other than to bemoan the fact that in the USA, fads like gas guzzling cars that happen to have motor driven wheels are distracting people from what is being done to rain forests to run those gas guzzlers from a liquid fuel.
