No it's not a bug, it's a "feature." Anybody who has spent any time with Google Earth is aware of how its images are pasted together from hundreds of images of extremely variable quality and age. My geographic area uses a satellite image which is at least 20 years old, judging by road and housing construction. Your "alien ship" is just an artifact where two or three images have been crudely joined together.
